Does Smoking Lead to Weight Loss?

If you talk to any young girl or even some not so young for just a moment, you’ll soon discover that she is unhappy with her body.  Many women desperate to shed those unwanted pounds have taken on a dangerous risk in their attempt to trim the fat.  Rather than traditional diet and exercise programs, they are starting to light up.

These ladies have bought into the hype that smoking cigarrets can lead to a loss of appetite.  While it has been proven that smoking does lead to an increase in the smoker’s metabolism it has not yet been conclusiviely proven that there is a direct link between smoking and weight loss.  In fact, while there is clearly some connection between the two, the health risks associated with breathing nicotine and tar far out way the minor benefits.

Researchers have discovered that while there may be a very small correlation between smoking and weight loss, the impact is almost insignificant and is not long lasting.  A safer alternative might be to try one of the many available diet programs like the Zone, Atkins or Medifast diet. The reality is that most gain all if not most of the weight they lost back within a few weeks of quiting.
