Your Behavior is Not You
Wednesday, October 29th, 2008Time and time again I find people struggling to quit smoking or struggling to lose weight. I often find that they lose the battle not with the behavior but in their inability to seperate their behavior from themselves. So, they participate in the behavior whether it be smoking a cigarrette or indulging in unhealthy food and immediately after the satisfaction of that experience is over, they begin to condem themselves.
The key here is that you must seperate the behavior from yourself. You are not your behavior. I say this because what begins to happen is that the more you condem yourself, the less able you feel to stop the behavior. You are a diamond, a rare and precious stone who simply needs to be told its worth. Once you understand your true value, that is when you will begin to act in accordance with your true worth and significance.
