Your Behavior is Not You

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Time and time again I find people struggling to quit smoking or struggling to lose weight.  I often find that they lose the battle not with the behavior but in their inability to seperate their behavior from themselves.  So, they participate in the behavior whether it be smoking a cigarrette or indulging in unhealthy food and immediately after the satisfaction of that experience is over, they begin to condem themselves.

The key here is that you must seperate the behavior from yourself.  You are not your behavior.  I say this because what begins to happen is that the more you condem yourself, the less able you feel to stop the behavior.  You are a diamond, a rare and precious stone who simply needs to be told its worth.  Once you understand your true value, that is when you will begin to act in accordance with your true worth and significance.

Where You the Fat Kid?

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I have a quick question for you.  Where you the fat kid growing up?  If yes, then you are fully aware of the challenges children dealing with obesity face on a daily basis. If not, then you probably do not have a clear understanding of the physical, mental and emotional  complications that come with being overweight in today’s society.  Whether you were or were not the fat kid matters little now however you should be concerned about if your kids is now the fat kid.  Just remember that keeping our children healthy does more than simply keep their bodies whole and healthy.  Learn more about keeping your kids on the right track at jtv

Gots to have it!…REALLY?

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Do people honestly think they HAVE to have cigarettes? Dou you honestly believe your body needs nicotine? I’ll answer that…NO…all your body needs is food, water, sleep, and exercise! That’s all it needs! You’re fooling yourself if you think that nicotine and cyanide (which are ingredients in your precious cigarettes) are “relieving your stress,” or “helping (you) sleep at night.” Nicotine and cyanide are POISONS people…POISONS!! Since when would you pick up even a teaspoon of cyanide at drink it?…well, you might as well be doing that, because these poisons can kill you eventually. Your body is not meant to take on these poisons and toxins, which is why many people who first start smoking have itching and scratching in their throats. It takes awhile to really begin smoking, because of the pain in your throat and lungs. Just think about it! I never knew life meant so little to so many.

Why is it so Hard?

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

You ever wonder why you just can’t put the cigarette down?…It’s because of the addiction! “Oh no…I’m not addicted” they say. Well that’s somewhat hard for me to believe due to the fact that the main ingredient in these death traps is NICOTINE! Unfortunately nicotine is very addictive like heroin and other addictive drugs. Why would I compare something so “trivial” as smoking to heroin?…because they are both HIGHLY detrimental to your health! The mind and body get so used to the nicotine, that becomes apart of the regimen and you just have to have it in order to feel “normal.” Let’s not forget that old saying “once you start it’s hard to stop!” I certainly agree, because most smokers (approx. 9 out of 10) say they started smoking when they were teenagers and have been ever since. It’s so sad to see this addiction consume one’s life for years and years. But it’s up to YOU to make the conscious decision to quit, and stop making it hard on yourself.

Smoking is Cool?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Think Smoking is COOL?!!! Yeah your parents and grandparents may have smoked a pack a day since they were tots, and you saw the cool men and sexy women in the movies puff a few…but did they really, really understand the effects smoking has on them? Teenagers are pressured day to day with smoking, and it’s so easy for them to just say “yes,” instead of thinking about the long term effects and just saying “NO!” When our parents were young, you could practically smoke anywhere: bars, clubs, hospitals (LOL) and mainly because they didn’t know any better about the side effects. These days, thankfully, smoking has been banned in most public places! Cigarette companies are also not allowed to advertise on TV and radio. In a nutshell, smoking CAUSES CANCER, emphysema, and heart disease. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want my life shortened by about a DECADE for some crummy little cigarette, not to mention it’s ridiculously bad for your health.
